CodeSmith Privacy Policy

CodeSmith is designed to keep your information private. CodeSmith collects, transmits, sells, and shares no personal data. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, crash-reporting service, tracking, or developer-operated server.

Processing on your device

QR generation, scanning, export, and printing run entirely on your device. The included open-source QR rendering library also runs locally and collects nothing.

CodeSmith stores only the following information locally:

• Your saved-code history
• Your preferred style
• Your preferred error-correction setting
• A cached purchase entitlement

The CodeSmith app and its share extension share this local information through an Apple App Group so that your settings and saved codes are available to both.

Device permissions

Camera. Camera access is used only for live scanning. CodeSmith does not record or transmit images.

Photo library. Photo-library access is add-only and is used only when you choose to save a generated code.

Contacts. CodeSmith uses Apple’s system contact picker. The picker returns only the contact or contact detail you select; CodeSmith does not read your contacts database.

You can revoke camera or photo-library permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Purchases

CodeSmith offers an optional, non-consumable in-app purchase. Apple processes the purchase through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your payment or billing details; CodeSmith stores only a local cached entitlement indicating whether the purchase is unlocked.

Links to other sites

Opening a web link from a scanned code takes you out of CodeSmith. The destination site’s own privacy practices then apply.

Your information and choices

Because the developer collects no personal data, there is no developer-held data to retain, provide, or delete. You can delete saved codes within CodeSmith. You can also uninstall the app to remove its local data according to iOS behaviour.
